WE MEET IN MERZOUGA
If you have your own vehicle, we will meet in the central square of Merzouga, where we will accompany you to your hotel of choice. There you can leave your bags and vehicle. At the end of the excursion, we will return to the same square to retrieve your vehicle and for a shower. If you arrive in Merzouga by bus or other means, the rendezvous will always be in the central square of Merzouga, at the bus stop, where we will accompany you to your hotel.
Bus schedule: From Fes: There are daily runs departing at 8:00 pm and arriving in Merzouga at 5:00 am. See the “Supratours” bus for information. From Marrakech: There are daily runs departing at 8:30 am and arriving in Merzouga at 8 pm. For details, check with the “Supratours” bus.
Our journey begins in the late afternoon with a fascinating camel trek into the desert, departing from our guesthouse located near the majestic sand dunes. The camels will be loaded with food, blankets, and all the essentials for a night in the desert. The dromedary trek will last about an hour and a half, leading us to the equipped camp where we will spend the night. Upon arrival, we’ll have the opportunity to walk on the towering dunes to witness the sunset, creating the perfect moment for breathtaking photos.
In the evening, the camp will come alive with traditional Berber drum music, offering a magical experience under a starry sky, free from light pollution. Around a campfire, we will enjoy a delicious dinner while listening to the music and soaking in the unique atmosphere of the desert.
In the morning, after breakfast, we will prepare for our return to Merzouga. Once back, we can enjoy a shower and relax at the guesthouse, concluding this unforgettable experience in the Sahara.
The journey begins after a peaceful lunch, depending on your arrival time. The dromedaries, loaded with food, blankets, and all the essentials, will accompany us into the desert. We will set off on an excursion that will lead us to a small oasis nestled among the dunes, where we will spend our first night. The evening will be magical, under a star-filled sky, with dinner around a campfire and a celebration with traditional music.
The next morning, after breakfast, we will mount the camels for a two-hour journey to our next destination. We’ll stop for lunch beneath a desert “Tamarix” tree, enjoying its shade and the peaceful surroundings. We will then continue on to the home of a Tuareg family, where we will spend the second night and share in the daily life of the locals.
The following day, after breakfast with the Tuareg, we will head towards another oasis in the desert, stopping along the way for lunch. Our third night will be hosted by a Berber nomad family living in this oasis, with a dinner followed by a festive evening with drum music.
The return to the village or the Auberge will take place after breakfast. Each day will include approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours of walking or camel riding.
Upon arrival, we will have the opportunity to witness the breathtaking sunset over the towering dunes, a perfect moment to capture unforgettable photographs. The night will be magical under a starry sky, with a traditional dinner served around a campfire, accompanied by the enchanting rhythm of Berber drum music. We will sleep in authentic nomadic tents, experiencing the true spirit of the desert.
The next morning, after breakfast at the camp, we will explore the area by camel, with the chance to visit and have lunch with the desert nomads. After lunch, we will return to the camp and embark on another walk through the dunes, visiting an oasis and enjoying yet another stunning sunset. The evening will be dedicated to relaxation and reflection on the day’s adventures, once again accompanied by traditional music.
After a hearty breakfast, we will venture into the desert region of Erg Chebbi, renowned for its spectacular sand dunes. This exciting journey will allow us to discover the life of the Berber nomads who inhabit these enchanting lands and admire the incredible variety of colors that the dunes display, depending on the light and angle of view.
We will visit the village of Khamlia, home to the Gnawa people, famous for their traditional music. For lunch, we will stop at a Berber house to enjoy a delicious pizza prepared especially for us. The adventure continues with the exploration of a volcanic rock site and a panoramic view of the dunes. Finally, we will visit the Merzouga lake before returning to Merzouga.
